What is Lira exactly?
Lira is a language-learning app based on reading real content. You import a text, tap unknown words for translation, then Lira schedules reviews with FSRS.
Which languages are supported?
For now: French, English, German, Spanish, and Italian.
Which formats can I import?
EPUB, PDF, article URL, HTML, and plain text.
Does Lira work offline?
No. Lira is now 100% online: an internet connection is required.
Is it really free?
The Free plan is available forever, no credit card required (5 active documents per language, 1 crossword grid per day). A Premium plan exists to unlock unlimited access.
Subscription
How much does Lira Premium cost?
€49.90/year or €7.99/month. The annual plan saves about 48% compared to monthly.
How do I cancel my subscription?
From your profile, Subscription section → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops future renewal — you keep Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of your first payment, no justification required (legal right of withdrawal). Contact hello@readwithlira.com. Beyond that window, payments already made are non-refundable.
Learning
How does spaced repetition (FSRS) work?
FSRS computes the best review time for each word right before forgetting.
How long should I review per day?
Usually 5 to 15 minutes per day is enough.
Does Lira replace Duolingo or Anki?
Lira is complementary: less setup than Anki and a reading-first workflow.
At what language level is Lira useful?
Mostly from A2/B1 upward, when you can read authentic content with contextual help.

Where do books in the Lira Library come from?
Classics mainly come from Project Gutenberg (public domain).
Can I export my words?
Yes, CSV export and Anki export are available in Settings.
How do I delete my account?
In Settings → Account → Delete my account.
